Harvard University holds $11.7 billion worth of BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF.
It has been revealed that Harvard University's BlackRock Bitcoin Spot ETF "IBIT" is worth approximately $117 million. According to SEC filings, as of June 30, they had newly acquired 1,906,000 shares.
The investment has become the fifth largest in Harvard University's investment portfolio. It exceeds the level of $114 million in Alphabet shares, Google's parent company, and is now a major holding next to Microsoft shares, which amount to $310 million.
Brown University, also part of the Ivy League, has increased its holdings from 105,000 shares to 212,500 shares as of March 31. The valuation has surpassed 13 million dollars, indicating an expansion of cryptocurrency ETF investments among prestigious universities.
BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF has garnered significant popularity among institutional investors as one of the most successful ETF products in history. By the end of the first quarter, a government fund in Abu Dhabi held over $500 million in shares.
Other major institutional investors include Mubadala Investment Company, which holds 8,726,972 shares. Millennium Management recorded the largest holding at 17,600,000 shares.
