President Donald Trump announces a new trade deal with Vietnam: Surprising for being "one-sided"?

President Donald Trump has recently attracted attention by announcing that the United States and Vietnam have reached a new trade agreement. According to the terms of the agreement, the U.S. will impose a 20% tariff on goods imported directly from Vietnam and a 40% tariff on goods transiting through Vietnam – this tax rate has been adjusted down from the previously proposed 46% in April.

Notably, Vietnam will completely exempt taxes on goods imported from the United States. The agreement quickly became a focal point of debate in public opinion, with many opinions suggesting that this is a "one-sided agreement" tilted in favor of the United States, raising significant questions about the actual benefits that Vietnam may gain from this decision.
